Edward P. Jessie, 63, of Worcester, died Wed., Oct. 10 in UMASS Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Worcester and the son of the late Locarte E. (Staney) Jessie. His wife of 35 years, Jean L. (Bassett) Jessie, died last year. He leaves two children: Dianne M. Jessie and her husband William P. Furlong of Orlando, FL, and Michael J. and his wife Jenny Bickford-Jessie of Worcester; his father, Edward I. Jessie of Worcester; a grandson, Jacob M. Jessie of Worcester; two sisters: Karen E. and her husband Dr. Stephen Bernacki and Lois A. and her husband Henry Bois, all of Northborough; and nieces and nephews. He graduated from St. Stephen's High School and Worcester Junior College.
Edward worked at Hudson News in the Atlas Division, retiring earlier this year. Prior to that, he was the head timekeeper at Heald Machine Company, where he worked for 26 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #170 and St. Stephen's Church. He was an avid NASCAR, Red Sox and Patriots fan. Edward's family would like to thank the caretakers and staff of 7 East and 7 ICU at UMASS University Campus.
Visiting Hours will be held Sat. Oct., 13 from 8:30 to 10:30 AM with a Funeral Service at 10:30 AM in CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the IWMF (International Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia Foundation), 3932D Swift Rd., Sarasota, FL 34231, or at www.iwmf.com.
