Elizabeth Fiske Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Jane (Huse) Fiske, 88, formerly of Holden, died Friday, October 19, 2007 in the Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center, Norwich, CT, after 9 years.

Her husband of 57 years, Harry Robert Fiske, died in 1998. She leaves her son, Harry H. Fiske of Norwich, CT; two grandchildren, Michael Fiske of Palm Bay, FL and Michelle Fiske of West Melbourne, FL; and four great-grandchildren. Her 16 year old daughter, Suzanne Elizabeth Fiske of Holden, died in 1958. She was born on February 9, 1919 in Evanston, Illinois, daughter of Frank James and Annie Louise (Manter) Huse, and lived in Holden before moving to Norwich in 1998. She graduated from Evanston High School, attended Simmons College in Boston and the University of Illinois in Champagne-Urbana, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

She was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Timothy Bigelow Chapter, and the National Society of New England Women, Worcester Colony. She was also a member of Greendale Peoples Church, its Women's Christian Fellowships and the Three "F's (Faith, Friendships and Fellowship) of the Senior Citizens of the Church, and the Holden Council on Aging.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral for Mrs. Fiske will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 22nd, in the funeral home followed by burial in Grove Cemetery, Holden. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114-2699.
