David L. Mooers Sr.

David L. Mooers, Sr., 65, of Marlboro, died, Friday, October 19, 2007, in his home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 42 years, Joanne M. (DiClemente) Mooers; two sons, David L. Mooers, Jr. of Millbury and Adam J. Mooers of Hudson; three daughters, Laura M. Mooers of Berlin, Heather J. Donnel of Florida, and Robin J. Kruzewski of Worcester; a brother, Philip F. Mooers, Jr. of Whitehouse, TN; a sister, Cathleen Daley of Brownfield, ME; 7 grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was born in Boston, the son of Philip E. and Norma (Lee) Mooers and lived in Marlboro since 1972.

David graduated from Newton North High School. He was a US Veteran of the Navy, serving on the USS Lexington. He was a master carpenter for the Local Union 275 in Newton. He taught at the New England Carpenters Training Center in Millbury and was a State Champion Carpenters Apprentice. He was an award winning artist, who loved to read and had a great sense of humor. He especially enjoyed working on his 1952 MG.

A memorial service for David will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2007 in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Hospital Boston, Dr. John Shillito Foundation, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115.
