Howard Tidd Knox

Howard Tidd Knox, 92, formerly of Holden, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007, in the Oakdale Rehab. and Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston. He was born on September 9, 1915 in Taunton, son of Arthur R. and Marjorie (Tidd) Knox, Sr., and lived in Holden for 50 years.

His wife of 57 years, Roberta D. (Donaldson) Knox, died in 2004. He leaves two sons, Donald H. Knox of Carver and Arthur "Randy" Randall Knox of Northampton; 4 grandchildren; and 9 nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by one brother and five sisters. He was a graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.

Mr. Knox was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Maritime Service as a radio operator aboard a "liberty ship". He worked for the U.S. Envelope Co. and Worcester Envelope Co., retiring after 22 years as Assistant Superintendent in 1982. He was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Worcester for nearly 60 years and was a member of the Boylston Masonic Lodge. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed classical music, gardening, nature and bird-watching.

A memorial service for Mr. Knox will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 26, in the First Unitarian Church of Worcester, 90 Main St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden is directing arrangements.
