Christos Haidas Obituary
He leaves a son, Dino Haidas of Worcester and a daughter Esther Stratis and her husband Nicholas of Shrewsbury. Christos also leaves three lovely grandchildren, Alexis Stratis, Evan Stratis and Chris Haidas.
Christos was born in Ioannina, Greece and came to the United States with his parents at age 3 1/2.
Christos was kind, soft-spoken and a gentleman with a great sense of humor. Everyone that knew him loved him. Christos had interests in astronomy and a passion for classical music and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Christos graduated from Worcester Academy. He attended Northeastern University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. While attending Northeastern University, he studied and worked at MIT. Christos served in the United States Army for two years. Christos was employed by George Myer Co. in West Boylston as a Senior Computer Programmer Analyst for many years. He was employed at New England Electric, currently National Grid in Westboro with the same position before he retired.
He had an interest in astronomy and was a member of the Aldrich Astronomical Society, Inc., Paxton, MA. He was a long time member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007 from Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Trisagion Service will be held during the calling hours. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester, MA 01609. For directions and on-line guest book, please visit
