Roy Spangenberg Obituary

Roy J. Spangenberg, 67 of Worcester and formerly of Auburn, died Saturday, October 20th in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after a short illness.

He leaves his two daughters: Donna M. Spaulding and her husband Richard of Cherry Valley, and Brenda L. Spangenberg and her spouse Lorraine LeMay of Worcester; his former wife, Catherine A. (West) Spangenberg, with whom he lived; his three grandchildren: Valerie Spangenberg, Richard Spaulding III, and Michael Spaulding; his sister, Theresa Raymond and her husband Edward of Sequim, WA; his aunt, Nellie Swickas of Worcester and his uncle, Alexander Senosk of Worcester, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Allen G. and Ann H. (Senosk) Spangenberg.

He was born in Nanticoke, NY and was raised in Auburn and lived in Worcester for many years. Mr. Spangenberg worked as a machine operator and later as manager of the shipping and receiving department of the former Handi-Pad Co., Worcester for many years, before losing his sight in an accident. After becoming disabled, he worked at various jobs in the Worcester area, as well as volunteered many hours at the Lutheran Home of Worcester to remain active.

He was a member of Saint Joseph's Parish in Auburn.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, October 25th from the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn with a Mass celebrated at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn. Committal services will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Salvation Army, 72 Cambridge St., Worcester, MA 01603. For directions or to leave a message of sympathy for Roy's family, please visit:
