Wilbert Watt Obituary

Wilbert A. "Buzzy" Watt, 88 of Still River died on October 25th. Born in Canada on August 18th, 1919 he was the son on the late David M. and Ellen (Symons) Watt. Buzzy was married 50 years to Lois (Bennett) Watt. He graduated in a class of six from the Bromfield Academy in Harvard in 1939 and attended Guelph Agricultural College studying veterinary medicine. In his younger years he loved to run track and ski. Buzzy and his brothers operated the D. M. Watt and Sons Dairy Farms which were founded by their father.

As an active member of the community, Buzzy was involved in local politics and was beloved by the village children. Many remember their after school visits with him in the milking parlor and the never ending supply of chocolate milk. Buzzy was a 4-H leader as a young man, a life member of the Evangelical Congregational Church of Harvard, a life member of the Harvard Historical Society, a sixteen year member of the Harvard Planning Board and was its representative to the Conservation Commission. After his retirement from farming, Buzzy was able to pursue his passions for fishing and woodworking. He frequently traveled to Canada to fly fish on the Miramichi River and loved his vacation time on Prince Edward Island.

Buzzy is survived by his wife Lois of Still River, his son John and his wife Deborah of Groton, his daughter Andrea and her husband Robert Teitelbaum of Weehawken NJ, his grandsons Justin and Christopher Watt of Groton, his brother Clifford J. Watt of Westminster, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his two brothers David R. and Richard and his sister Amy Watt.

A memorial service will be held on November 10th at 1 PM at the Evangelical Congregational Church, 5 Still River Road, Harvard. Burial at Bellevue Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231-4596 or Hildreth House, Harvard Council on Aging PO Box 615 Harvard, MA 01451.
