Helen McNamara Obituary

Helen F. (Weaver) McNamara, 96, formerly of Mt. View Drive, died Sunday, October 28, 2007 in Sterling Healthcare. Her husband of 62 years, Leo F. McNamara, died on May 30, 1995. She was born in Leominster on February 11, 1911, the daughter of John and Grace (Sharrock) Weaver.

She leaves two sons, Leo F. McNamara and his wife Deborah of Brighton, MI, and John J. McNamara and his wife Meredith of Yarmouth; two daughters, Patricia Sadowski and her husband Walter of Clinton, and Mary Cantrell and her husband George of Columbia, CA; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-granddaughters; two brothers, Charles Weaver of Bolton, and Albert Weaver of Valley Center, CA; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers: Carl, John, Alfred, and James Weaver, and a sister, Mary Davenport.

Helen was a sales associate at J.C. Penney, Co., for over 25 years. She organized group tours and loved to travel to Ireland, and many countries in Europe and throughout the United States. Helen knitted several afghans for her family, loved bingo, crossword puzzles, and yard sales. She was a devout Catholic woman and a former member of many societies at St. John the Evangelist Church. Helen had wonderful friends at Sterling Healthcare, and her family would like to thank them and the entire staff for their kindness and compassion.

Helen's funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Resident Activity Fund, c/o Sterling Healthcare, 18 Dana Hill Rd., Sterling, MA 01564, or to St. Mary Elementary School, 128R Franklin St., Clinton, MA 01510.
