Mary Baum Obituary

Mary L. (Erkkinen) Baum, 73, of 31 Pearl St., died on Sunday, October 28, 2007 in her home after a brief illness.  She is survived by her devoted and loving partner, Daniel Murphy, with whom she lived; a brother, William Erkkinen of Clinton; two sisters: Helen Ashline and her husband John of Clinton and Joanne and George Veracka of Stow. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Deborah Finnegan of Acton and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved son, John Baum; infant son, Edward Nigles; two brothers: Joseph and Henry Erkkinen; and sister, Wilma Dixon.

Mary was born in Marlborough to the late Edward W. and Helen E. (Green) Erkkinen, and raised in Stow. She attended local schools and was a graduate of the Hale High School. Mary was employed with the Digital Corporation from their inception in Maynard until her retirement after twenty years with the company. She held numerous positions in her retirement, most notably with the Bose Corporation in Framingham. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, working around her home, crafts and knitting and walking her beloved dog, Scotty. A funeral service is to be held at 10AM on Saturday, November 3, 2007 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with an hour of calling hours prior to the service from 9 until 10AM. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery in Stow. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Care Network and Hospice Development Office-120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608-1280.
