Joseph Jocz Obituary

Joseph J. Jocz, 80, of Worcester, died Sunday November 4 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 119 Belmont Street.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Florence B. (Griskey) Jocz, two sisters, Jane J. Shaw and Catherine J. O'Connell and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by four brothers and one sister, John J. Jocz, Jr, Charles T. Jocz, Edward A. Joyce, Anthony E. Jocz and Mary T. Meduski. He was born in Worcester, a son of John J. Jocz, Sr, and Malwina (Szewerenka) Jocz and lived here all his life.

Mr. Jocz was a postal clerk for many years for the U.S. Postal Service, Worcester. He retired several years ago. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Joseph was a member of St. George Church and its Mens Club and was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday November 7 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. George Church, 38 Brattle Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday November 6 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen Street, Framingham, Ma., 01701.
