Charles Whorton Obituary
He leaves his wife of 37 years, Gloria M. (Metrik) Whorton; a son James M. Whorton of Auburn; a brother, Jeffrey J. Whorton and wife Sharon of Auburn; two nieces, two nephews, two great nieces and cousins.
He was born in Worcester the son of the late Charles W. "Tex" and Nora (Noonan) Whorton, Sr. Chuck graduated from Auburn High School in 1963 and received his B.A. from Nichols College in 1968. He worked as a claim adjuster for National Grange Mutual for the last 18 1/2 years retiring due to illness.
Chuck was a member of St. Joseph's Church, a member and former Treasurer of the Mass Claim Adjusters Association, a former member of the Auburn Elks and the Toastmasters Club from which he received a regional award.
His family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the Third Floor Hematology/Oncology Staff of the Levine Center for the compassionate care they showed to Chuck and his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Auburn. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St. North, Auburn. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Scholarship Fund c/o Worcester-Auburn Emblem Club, P.O. Box 20191, Worcester, MA 01602.
