Gilbert Lowe Obituary

Gilbert F. "Unkie" Lowe, 90, of 367 Water St., formerly of 545 High St., died Sunday, November 11, 2007, in Sterling Healthcare, Sterling, after an illness. His wife of 47 years, Elizabeth M. (Stitt) Lowe, died in 1990.

He is survived by a son, Donald A. Lowe and his wife Elizabeth of Clinton; and a granddaughter, Andrea Maas Murray. His son, Frederick Lowe, in 2001, and his brother, Clarence Lowe, predeceased him.

Unkie was born in Clinton, son of Frederick and Jessie (Lindsay) Lowe, and was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1947. For many years before his retirement, he worked at Norton Co., of Worcester. A US Army Veteran of WWII, Unkie was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and an American Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Clinton, and a life member of both the Polish American Veterans, and the Masonic Lodge. An avid Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed golf and fishing.

Calling hours for Unkie will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to: WHEAT Community Services, 123 High St., Unit 22, Clinton, MA 01510.
