Francis Bilodeau Obituary

Francis D. Bilodeau, 64, of 413 Linwood Ave. died peacefully at home on Thurs. Nov. 22 from melanoma. He is survived by His wife of 39 years Mary J. "Mania"(Marteka) Bilodeau; a daughter, Deborah J. and her husband Shawn O'Toole of Charlton; a son, Christopher A. and his wife Kadie Bilodeau of Grafton; his granddaughter, Haley; 2 brothers, Robert Bilodeau of Uxbridge and David Bilodeau of W. Boylston; and several nephews and nieces. Born in Uxbridge on Nov. 27, 1942 he was the son of Octave and Louise (Convent) Bilodeau and lived in Whitinsville 35 years.

Mr. Bilodeau was a Logistics Manager for Geerlings and Wade Wine Distribution in Canton for several years. Previously he was Director of Logistics at Nortel Networks in Chelmsford. He was a graduate of Uxbridge High School and earned his bachelors degree at Bryant College. He served in the Navy, enjoyed gourmet cooking and was a wine connoisseur. He loved bird watching, gardening, golf and fishing. Over the years he operated a ham radio and communicated with people from around the world. He and his wife liked traveling to Palm Springs to visit his brother-in-law Ed Marteka.

His funeral will be held Tues. Nov 27 from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 1 Cross St. with brother-in-law Rev. Anthony T. Marteka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Mon. Nov. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Umass Memorial Foundation, Levine Cancer Center, 365 Plantation St., 1 Biotech Dr., Suite 100, Worcester MA 01605.

I am so sorry for your loss. Franny and I grew up together. We lived on the same street as young kids. I remember him fondly. He used to stand outside the house and yell "Marky come on out and play" He was a great kid. We also stayed in contact when we were in the Navy.
