Ellen Kavanagh Obituary

Ellen R. (O'Neil) Kavanagh, 96, formerly of Talbot Terrace, died Thursday, November 22 at Blair House in Milford.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Roger C. Kavanagh; a niece, Mary Jane McLaughlin of Uxbridge; a grand nephew, Ryan J. McLaughlin of Uxbridge; two sisters-in-law, Helen Ward of Milford and Claire Kavanagh of Osterville and several other nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by two brothers, James and Henry O'Neil.

Born in Watertown, on December 29, 1910, she was the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Burke) O'Neil. She and her husband moved to Uxbridge in 1963, previously living in Newton. She was a bank officer for Newton Trust and Newton National for many years. Mrs. Kavanagh was a member of St. Mary's Church in Uxbridge and was a CCD teacher for 12 years. She was the former treasurer of the Uxbridge Women's Club and was an officer of the Uxbridge Senior Center. She enjoyed reading, traveling and especially spending time with her family.

Her funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, November 27, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 77 Mendon St., (Rt 16) in Uxbridge. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 27, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ellen's memory may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge, MA 01569.
