Margaret Parella Obituary

Margaret M. Parella passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2007, at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Worcester, where she has been a resident for several years. "Mickey", as she was known to family and friends, was born in Connecticut on July 30, 1911 to Vincenzo and Carmela (Bonnano) Parella, and was a life-long resident of Worcester. Mickey was predeceased by brothers Joseph, Charles, and Anthony; and sister Catherine Parella. She is survived by her sister, Mary Bussolari and many devoted nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews to whom she was most loving and generous.

Margaret graduated with Horace Mann Honors from Commerce High School in 1929, and immediately began her secretarial career at Worcester County National Bank, where she remained until her retirement in 1976. She was most proud of her position as Executive Secretary to many of the bank's top executives. Margaret was an active volunteer and office-holder for the Saint Vincent Guild of Our Lady of Providence between 1983 and 1993, a supporter and volunteer with Mechanics Hall and a member of the Worcester County Light Opera.

An hour of visitation, beginning at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m., will be held on Monday, December 3 in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will be in the family plot at Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers that family requests that contributions in Margaret's name be made to Mechanics Hall, 321 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608 or Notre Dame Long Terme Care Center, 559 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
