Anita Howe Obituary

Anita M. (Tougas) Howe, 96, of Hardwick Rd., died Thursday, November 29, 2007 in the Quaboag on the Common Nursing Home in West Brookfield.

She leaves one son, Charles Howe and his wife Carol of New Braintree; eleven grandchildren, Michael Howe and his wife Cheryl, Patricia Young and her husband Ralph, Ronald Howe and his wife Holly, Janet Bigos and her husband Alan, Charles Howe, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Ann Borelli and her husband Mark, Jeffrey Howe and his wife Christine, Barbara Vadnais and her husband Phillip, Kenneth Howe, David Howe and his wife Ronda and Scott Howe and his wife Heather; twenty six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was born in Worcester daughter of the late Arthur C. and Fleurine (Vigneault) Tougas and was a lifelong resident of New Braintree. She graduated from Hardwick High School in 1930.

Mrs. Howe owned and operated Howe's Greenhouse in New Braintree which she founded with her husband Frederick and continues to be run by her family today.

Anita was a member of the New Braintree Grange for 62 years and received a Golden Sheaf Certificate in 1995 for 50 years of membership from the National Grange. She served many years on the Board of Registrars in New Braintree and loved to play cards and read.

A Funeral Mass for Anita will be held on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine Church in Wheelwright. Calling hours will be held Sunday, December 2, 2007 from 5 to 7 PM at the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the North Brookfield Emergency Squad, P. O. Box 73, North Brookfield, MA 01535.
