Alice Galanis Obituary

Alice (Naoumis) Galanis, 87, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Marlborough, died Sunday (Dec. 2, 2007) at Clinton Hospital after an illness.

She was the wife of the late Costa Galanis who died in 2002. She leaves her daughter Constance Galanis and her husband Stephen Linde of North Grafton. A grandson Adam Linde of North Grafton. Also a sister in law Marybelle Naumes of Jamaica Plain and many nieces and nephews.

She was born in Marlborough daughter of the late James and Constance (Papstergeos) Naoumis and has lived in Shrewsbury for many years. She was a graduate of Marlborough High School. She was a hostess for many years at the Longfellow Wayside Inn of Sudbury and previously was a hostess for the Dedham Country and Polo Club.

She was a lifelong member of Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church of Marlborough and also a member of the Enosis Society. She loved to garden and also enjoyed arranging floral displays. She was an avid reader.

Funeral will be held Thursday (Dec. 6, 2007) at 10 A.M from the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St., Marlborough with funeral sevices at Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, corners of Central and Cashman Sts., Marlborough at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Marlborough.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, Nov. 5 until 8 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to the Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund.
