Ralph Giarusso Obituary

Ralph P. Giarusso, 84 of 471 Summer St., died Sunday, December 2, 2007 in his residence. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Irene (Dogul) Giarusso; three daughters: Sharon Dieter & her husband Fred of CT, Michelle Giarusso & her husband James Nielsen of Lyden, MA, & Marcia Attea & her husband Paul of Plymouth, MA; a brother, Carmello Giarusso of Barre; two sisters: Mary Ryder of Barre & Catherine Hubbard of Springfield; 8 grandchildren; Seth, Jennah, Courtney, Tyler, Danny, Andrew, Taylor, Peter and many nieces & nephews.

He was born in Barre and has been a lifelong resident.

Mr. Giarusso was a WWII US Navy Veteran, serving overseas on the USS Kidd. He worked for the Barre Wool Combing Co., Millbrook Distributing Co., and later the Commonwealth of MA, Dept. of Public Works until he retired. Mr. Giarusso was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 404, member & past president of the Lions Club here and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2007 from Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 S. Barre Rd., Barre, with an 11:00AM Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 29 South St. Burial will private for the family in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00PM in the funeral home. Donations may be made to UMass Memorial Hospice, PO Box 2795, Worcester, MA 01613-9938.

To my wonderful aunt Irene and my cousins, Marcia, Sharon & Shelly, Ralph will be missed terribly. My home will be empty this winter without his presence. He was like a dad to me and I will miss him terribly.

our families sincere sympathy.
i just meet ralph and irene once,it was at my mom and dad's 50th.they came all the way to windsor,ontario canada to celebrate this special event with my mom and dad who they meet on a cruise. they became really good friends and would always see each other on the cruise ship.i know you will sadly be missed by everyone's life that you touched.
remember all the fun and cheris all the memories of ralph.
