Mildred Hedstrom Obituary
83, of Michigan Road, Jaffrey, died Monday, December 3, 2007 at the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center in Jaffrey, following a period of failing health.
She was born July 28, 1924 in Fitchburg, MA, daughter of the late Horace and Bernadette (Levesque) Couturier. She was a graduate of Fitchburg High School and had attended Stevens Business College in Fitchburg.
Mrs. Hedstrom was a founding member and was on the building committee of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Whalem, MA. She also had served on the building committee of the North Street School in Leominster, MA. She has been a resident of Jaffrey since 1983 and had previously lived in Sterling and Leominster, MA.
She was past president of the Jaffrey-Rindge Senior Citizens for several years and was a communicant of St. Patrick Parish in Jaffrey. She also was past president of the Leominster PTA. She loved to sew which included crewelwork and needlepoint. She has made many dolls for family and friends. She had traveled with her husband to many Lions International Conventions throughout the world.
Her husband of 53 years, Kenneth L. Hedstrom, died October 7, 1998. She is survived by two daughters: Diane B. Hedstrom of Jaffrey and Phyllis F. Bates of Henderson, Nevada; a grandson, Kenneth Marrama also of Henderson, Nevada; two great grandchildren; a brother, Maurice Couturier of Gardner, MA; three sisters: Jeannette McMaster of Worcester, MA, Pauline Lemoine of Ashburnham MA and Lucille Robillard of Leominster, MA.; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00AM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps, pastor will officiate.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow in Green Bower Cemetery, Winter St., Gardner MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund at Good Shepherd Healthcare Center, 20 Plantation Drive, Jaffrey NH 03452.
