Barbara McCarthy Obituary

Barbara J. (Matthews) McCarthy, 79, of Hudson, MA died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at St. Patrick's Manor Nursing Home in Framingham. She was the wife of the late Ermon McCarthy who died in 2000. Born in Clinton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Loran and Jeanette (Poitras) Matthews.

Mrs. McCarthy was a lifelong resident of Hudson and was a graduate of Hudson H.S. Class of 1946. She was employed by the Raytheon Co. in Wayland as a secretary for many years, prior to her retirement. She was an avid skier and skater and enjoyed crocheting and restoring and finishing chairs. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hudson, MA where she was always active in the many church affairs.

Mrs. McCarthy is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary McCarthy of Hudson, MA; her niece, Ellen Dilauro of Hudson, MA and several grand nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 34 Felton Street, Hudson MA. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 7, from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the service at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
