Eva Rose Obituary

Eva (Mastro) Rose, 88, passed away Saturday, December 8th, 2007, at St. Vincent Hospital. Eva's husband Emery H. "Buster" Rose, passed away in July of 1977.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Bird; her three grandchildren, Amanda, Frankie, and Crystal Bird, and their father, Francis "Skip" Bird, with whom she was very close; also by her three brothers, William, Anthony, and Vincent Mastro, and three sisters, Helen Zingarelli, Elsie Shean, and Anna Mastro, along with many nieces and nephews. Four sisters, Lena Chenevert, Frances Ruggieri, Mary Driscoll, and Margaret Archambo, and two brothers, John and Benny Mastro predeceased her. Eva was born in Shrewsbury, a daughter of William and Viola (Conghlia) Mastro. She grew up in Shrewsbury, graduated from Shrewsbury High School and lived most of her life in Worcester.

Eva worked many years for Rockwood Sprinkler, Presmet and Sprague Electric before retiring.

During her time with us, Eva touched many lives with her laughter and never-ending sense of humor, her contagious charm, her stubbornness, and also with her unforgettable and delectable Italian cooking. She was loved by many, but that love could never be matched by what she always did, and the love she always felt, for everyone around her. This love and warmth was expressed by her uplifting smile and her endless sarcastic demeanor. Eva truly was a wonderful and inspirational woman and will be missed by all.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 11h in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. The funeral will then be held Wednesday, December 12th, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. in Shrewsbury. Burial will be private in Hope Cemetery alongside her late husband. Aunt Eva, I will never forget all the memories we have shared, from the wine cellar to catering to cooking jalopeno chicken. I could never find the words to express how much I loved you. I will miss you until we meet again!!! "Love is, above all else, the gift of oneself.
