Erin Shehan Obituary

March 6, 1987 – May 17, 2009

Erin Kellie Shehan, 22, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2009, in College Station. A memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at A&M United Methodist Church.

Kellie was born on March 6, 1987, in Dallas. She was a longtime resident of College Station, graduating from A&M Consolidated High School. She was a student at Texas A&M University and loved every minute of it.

Kellie loved the mountains, especially Cheley Colorado Camps where she spent many summers as a child. She was a wonderful musician who found great joy in playing her guitar, writing music and singing.

She was a spiritual person with a deep desire to know God and God's word. She had a huge heart. Kellie was a gifted student and talented athlete. She especially excelled at tennis, even winning one tournament with an injured shoulder.

Her bright eyes and radiant smile brightened any room. Words cannot describe how much she is already being missed by so many people.

Kellie was preceded in death by her grandfather, R.G. Wessendorff.

Survivors include her parents, Tom and Laura Shehan; grandparents, Patricia Wessendorff, Pam Flippen and Tom Shehan Sr. and wife, Geri; aunts and uncles, Tony and Gail Wessendorff, Suzy and Philip Rayermann, Kerri and Mike Harris and Jennifer Heisey; cousins, William and Tricia Lockwood, Garrow Wessendorff, Kyle and Shane Harris and Grant and Garrett Heisey; and numerous other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kellie's name may be made to the A&M Wesley Foundation, P.O. Drawer K, College Station, TX 77841 or to your favorite charity.

Shehans-
My heart is broken over the loss of Kellie. I've been trying to think of the right words, but I don't think they exist. Kellie was one of a kind. Her hugs could bring peace and calm regardlesss of the situation. I always enjoyed being around your family. You are in my prayers.

In every recollection I have of Kellie, her passion is evident: her radiant smile, her boisterous laugh, her enrapturing songs. I am extremely grateful to have the good fortune to have known Kellie, and I will never forget her.

Kellie will be greatly missed. She is an amazing person. I met her at Wesley and instantly we bonded because of our similar name. I will never forget her smile and her passion for Christ! I will miss her deeply.

Tom and Laura, my strongest memory of Kellie is being on a hike with her in Lower Chipeta when our group came across a snowfield. She'd never seen snow before. She asked if she could throw a snowball at me (her counselor) and I agreed. I hope its something she always remembered. She was one of my favorite campers at Cheley. I hope you know I am thinking of you at this difficult time in your lives. Thank you for giving her to us at Cheley.

I knew Kellie in high school, and she was always such a kind, vibrant, thoughtful, funny, athletic and joyful individual. Most importantly, she loved the Lord. I admired her passion for serving Him and making Him known to others. This verse in Proverbs 31:25-26 describes her best:

She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

May the Lord's peace cover Kellie's family and friends during this time.

Tom and Laura,

I had the joy and priviledge of spending many hours with Kellie when we lived in College Station. So many words describe this precious young woman - beautiful inside and out, extremely bright, an amazing sense of humor, gifted and talented with music and writing skills. She was an absolute joy to all who knew her. I am blessed to have been among them. Kellie's love for the Lord was contagious and I am confident that she is resting in His arms of love even now. I pray you both will be comforted in your loss and have the joy and peace of knowing you will see Kellie again, and for eternity. You will remain in my prayers.

No one can really know the sorrow you are feeling. I remember meeting Erin 'Kellie' when you, Tom, were launching the Technical Assistance program and thinking how devoted you both were to her. She knew how much you both loved her and she will always be with you, in your thoughts, and in your prayers. I'll remember her and both of you in prayers. My condolences to you both.

Laura and Tommy,
Sally and I will always remember Kellie as that precious little girl we met in 2003. I never saw a child who idolized her daddy so much. She was the spitting image of Tommy. In a minute you could tell that her strength, sense of humor, and competiveness were drawn from her Dad. Kellie's graciousness, poise, and deep love for people came from Laura. Although neither Sally nor I can come close to understanding your loss, please know how much we love the two of you. We will never forget that precious little girl.
