Anthony Ciaschi Obituary
Anthony "Chef" Ciaschi, 69, of 157 Pearsall Place, Ithaca, passed away Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Cayuga Medical Center. Born in Ithaca, son of the late Susan and Jack Ciaschi.
Tony retired from Borg-Warner as supervisor of the Auto Lab Department after 39 years of service, he was also retired from U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve after 23 years of service.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, The Ithaca Elks Lodge and The Knights of Columbus. He was also an avid golfer and New York Yankees fan.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Carol Knuutilla Ciaschi; son, John (Leslie) Ciaschi of Ithaca; daughter, Nicole Ciaschi of Ithaca; grandchildren, Nick and Christina Patenaude, Angelina Deja, and John Anthony Ciaschi Jr.; great grandchildren, Blake and Julie Ann Patenauda; also three sisters, Theresa Flacco, Annalee Donnelly and Cecila Stock; several nieces and nephews and his best friend, Al Wurzel. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Rose Lisi.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Leo Reinhardt officiating. Burial to follow with full military honors at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Bangs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 150 North Albany Street, Ithaca or the charity of ones choice.

It has taken me over a year to write something down in this online guest book. Tony to me was my second father who was always there for me through the tough times in life. Carol, Nicole and John you will always be my second family and I miss and think about Tony all the time. I love you all! It has been very hard for me to sit down and think about what to write.
So here it goes... I often think about when I lived with Carol and Tony and how Tony helped me with my math homework. He thought that we did awesome on the assignment. I came home the next day and he was there... he asked me how "we" did. I had to tell him that we failed. He was so heart broken but I never did ask for help again. Or the time that we went out to varna or somewhere and I sang the entire time... these are two great memories that were always brought up when I was around!
How about how Tony loved to play tricks on my mom from calling her on the phone pretending she won a vacation or just pretending to be some man trying to attack her on Pearsall Place!
Oh how Tony was a jokester but a great man who really did light up the room when he walked in. I will always miss him and always think of him.
To the entire Ciaschi Family I am always here for you even though I am not there, you are in my prayers and thoughts always!

Christmas is here and the new year is approaching. We are all missing you so very much and reflecting on the good times we all have had together. I think of you every day Anthony. you were the light of everyones life. Oh, how i miss you, but i know you are happy and in peace. I know you and all our family probably played TOMBOLA over the holiday. Everyone in our family is doing okay. Carol keeps herself busy with your children and grandchildren. theresa is busy also, she is in all her glory this holiday. she has all her children and grandchildren home. cecelia is still enjoyiong her job and busy with her family. Dear Carol,
What a wonderful Easter we all had. As usual Tony was the life of our family gathering at your home. I treasure the years we all had together, never will forget how many times he made us laugh, and cry, what an inspiration to all who knew him. Life was full of adventures and fun with Tony, who taught us all how to live, laugh, and love life to the fullest. Tony had a heart of gold, a smile that was radiating, and sense of humor that we all loved and admired. I will never forget Colorado, and dancing to Reggae music with the cane and all the grandchildren in tow. You were the highlight of our lives. Whenever Grampy was around we were guaranteed laughs, love, and fun. Thank you for being so generous to us, you made our lives complete. Thank you for all the advise and most of all thank you for always being ther for us. Tony was a loving man, He loved his family, He loved his friends,He loved his country,and He loved life. Tony could walk into a room full of strangers, and come out with a room full of friends. He was a great friend to my father (Rick) and a more recent friend of mine. I was fortunate to spend some time with Tony, Carol, Rick and Carm over dinner. Tony had me laughing the whole night. Peter Rogers called us while we were visiting Angelo and Molly in Florida. We were saddened to hear of the loss of one of the nice Ithacans we were pleased to know. Dear Carol, Annalee & Theresa:
My sister, Eileen called me only moments ago from the Palm's Restaurant in Elmira and told me that Tony passed away earlier in the week. She was told from one of the Palm's patrons. Her heart was broken as mine is hearing this news.
We are deeply saddened and cannot express enough our condolences to you and the rest of the family.
I am so thankful I was able to see Tony & Carol & Annalee at Richard & Helen Allegretto's 50th Wedding Anniversary party down in Ridgway, Pa a few years back. That was the last time I saw Tony, and his beautiful smile has forever been with me. He was a wonderful man and made everyone feel that much better when he was in their presence.

Tony was always a very nice person , he always had a smile on his face , and always spoke to me when he saw me. I was a Navy Reservist, 1st. Class PO, AT the Horseheads Navy Reserve Center. It's with a sad and heavy heart I sign this book. Tony and I have been best friends since we were 3 or 4 years old.
