I worked with Eric at the Office of the Solicitor. I remember his dry wit and quiet strength. He had been through so much but still appreciated what he had. I still think of him to this day. He was an inspiration and a wonderful friend.

Dear Ehrenberg Family,

What strength and joy have gone to raising and sustaining such a grand fellow as Eric. He was a cherished colleague to all of us in the Civil Rights Division, a fine lawyer, and a wit who always kept each of us a bit off balance waiting to hear what droll musing would issue next. I shall truly miss him and I wish that mere words could comfort you more.

I would like to convey my sorrow at Eric's passing. He and I were friends and teammates at Ithaca High School and Cornell, and friends later in life as well. He always worked so hard to keep all the Ithaca crew together, both at Cornell and after. He had a strong sense of family and the importance of roots as well.

I have so many good memories of Eric, but what I will remember most about him was his ability to get a laugh. Even when things weren't going his way, he took the time (and had the knack) to put a smile on other people's faces - a true gift.

Eric, Pam, Talia, and the rest of Eric's family and friends are in our thoughts at this sad time.

Dear Ron, Randy, and Family,

Kathy and I were very sad to learn about Eric's passing. Our hearts go out to you and all of Eric's family.

We know how hard it is to lose a child and a spouse and father at such a young age. The pain you are feeling now can only be offset to some degree by the warmt and support that comes to you from your family, friends, and as you will experience, even from people who only know and admire you from afar. Cherish these expressions of support. They tell you how much people like Kathy and I respect the love, support, an dcourage you have shown for Eric over the many years of his illness.

You will be in our hearts and prayers in the days ahead.

With best wishes,

Tom and Kathy Kochan
