George Harvey Obituary

GEORGE R. HARVEY
BROOKTONDALE - George R. Harvey, 81, of Brooktondale, died Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Cayuga Medical Center. Born in East Berkshire, he was a son of the late Earl and Elda Harvey.
Mr. Harvey had several occupations over the years including the business of farming, truck driving, construction, building swimming pools and most recently, along with his wife, he helped to deliver the Ithaca Journal six mornings a week to over 1,000 customers in the Cayuga Heights area. He was a member of the local Moose and Eagles clubs. George enjoyed bowling and hunting and was a big fan of "The Duke" (John Wayne).
Mr. Harvey is survived by his loving wife of sixteen years, Vivian Harvey; eleven children, Margaret, Roger, Robert, Evelyn, Rose, Deborah, Alice, Ernest, Diane, Patricia and Zina; 30 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; brother, Leon Harvey of Cortland; sister, Mae Newton of Altamonte Springs, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, at the E.C. Wagner Funeral Home of Ithaca, Rev. Richard Lloyd officiating. Friends may call from 1-2:00 prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brooktondale Fire Dept.
