Shirley Pringle Obituary

SHIRLEY M. PRINGLE
ITHACA - Shirley, with a heart that loved and gave so freely and sweetly to others, passed peacefully at her Longview home with her family at her side on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at age 80. Shirley was the wife of the late Robert Pringle to whom she was married for 53 years. She was a loving and much loved mother and mother-in-law of Anne Marie and her husband, John Norce of Hallandale, Florida, Nancy Pringle and her partner, Noreen Ruff of Ithaca, NY, and Gail and her husband, Rick Ranous of Ballston Spa, NY. Shirley loved children and her most treasured times were with her beloved grandchildren, Jamal, Kayla and Noah Ruff-Pringle, Cheryl (Ranous) and MacClean Merriman, Bill and Kelly (Gallup) Ranous, Lisa Ranous, and Anne (Norce) and John Justino. Shirley was the proud great-grandmother of Emmet Ranous. She also took great delight and always spoke with great affection for her many friends at Longview and those who greeted her with a smile three times a week at the Ithaca Dialysis Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Ithaca, New York on Friday, September 26, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fulton, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley's name to the Longview Capital Campaign or Hospice of Ithaca, New York. Bangs Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

I never had the opportunity to meet Shirley, but hearing about her from daughter Nancy made her come alive for me as a warm, adventurous and fun-loving person. I know we are joined by many others in expressing sorrow for your loss.

I met Shirley on the Gadabout bus. We rode together three evenings a week. She always had a smile on her face, and always a kind word about everyone she came in contact with. I will always remember her saying "Hi! m&m" to me. I will miss her.

She had THE biggest smile I ever saw. She took her ailment in stride; was kind and patient with new care givers and always was positive about life, despite her own problems. She will be sorely missed.
