Stewart Marrotte Obituary

STEWART J. "Stew" MARROTTE
DRYDEN - Stewart J. "Stew" Marrotte, age 57, of 31 James St., Dryden, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 11, 2008, while visiting relatives in Marlow, NH. Stew was born January 14, 1951 at Troy, NH, a son of the late Wilfred and Alina Mattilla Marrotte. He was graduated from Monadnock High School in 1969. Stew was employed at Troy Mills in Troy, NH and on September 27, 1975 was married to the former Debra Dimlich at Marlow, NH. They moved to Fabius, NY, where Stew was employed by Agway for a few years before becoming the working partner in the Ziebart Rustproofing franchise in Ithaca, NY. In 2004 Stew and his son formed Marrotte, Inc. and opened for business on Route 13 between Dryden and Ithaca. Recently they added Battery Warehouse to their automobile sales and service business. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved golfing, hunting, fishing and taking long walks. Stew greatly enjoyed spending every Memorial Day weekend fishing in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with his brother. Stewart was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, father-in-law, brother-in-law and son-in-law who also had friends too numerous to mention individually.
Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Debra L. Marrotte of Dryden; his son, Jeffrey A. Marrotte of Dryden; his daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Paul Sabin, Jr. of Cortland; three grandsons, Paul, Collin and Riley Sabin, all of Cortland; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Virginia Marrotte of Woodsville, NH; his mother-in-law, Vera Dimlich of Marlow, NH; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Caren and Ken Clark of Marlow; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Helen Dorothy Daniels.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2008, at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Kinney officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Hi Debbie:

Although we haven't seen each other in many years, I remember you and Stew fondly. He was very kind to me during the years that he and Pat worked together at Ziebart, and I was very sad to see he had passed away. I wish the best to you and your family and you will be in my prayers.

Debbie, Jeff, Carrie and family

My Thoughts and Prayers are with all of you.

The Little's and Marrotte's have shared decades more like a family than just friends. We've shared so much laughter in the good times, tears when life brought us to our knees. Stew was a a guy with a heart as big as his smile. He loved life as much as he loved all of you. You will be missed dear friend.

Dear Debbie and family..... Although I'm not directly family any longer I have still kept in touch since Ayla (Great Niece, Granddaughter of Dorothy Marrotte (Daniels)) is my daughter and family is important. As I read all of these wonderful notes..all I can think is WHAT THE HELL! I would have never in my wildest dreams thought that such a wonderful person would leave so early. But apparently he was needed elsewhere. You and your family have always been so warm and welcoming. Thank you for that. Be pissed, be sad, but be strong to keep Stewart's wonderful memories alive. Please email me any time! With a BIG huge...Shelly

To Stewart's family,
My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to all of you. Although I haven't seen Stew for many years, there are fond childhood memories of fishing and picking blueberries with Stewart in Troy. And of course there was laughter. May you all find peace as you celebrate his life.
Sincerely, Tom Talbot

To the Marrotte family:
Stewart was my first cousin and I have many fond childhood memories of our times together in Troy. Although I was three years older than Stewart, we would pal around with my younger brother Tom. I especially remember going fishing together and having many laughs. I think the last time I saw Stewart was at my mother's wake in 1979.
Tom called me after reading about Stewart in the Keene Paper. I have since contacted Aunt Theresa Lamothe, 82, who is one of Stewart's two remaining aunts from the Marrotte side. The other living Aunt is Janette Laylor, who is now 93 and living in California.
The Aunts, my brother Tom, sister Marie, father Raymond(86!) and myself wish to extend our deepest condolences to you.

To the toughest family I know,
The strength to get you all through this one will have to come from places unknown-but I have faith you will find it. Stu created a legacy through all of you and that will keep his spirit alive for eternity.

Debra and Stu were the first to welcome me to the neighborhood. There were not many days that went by when I was either going or coming from work and Stu would be out and send over a cheery “Hi neighbor!” That jovial greeting made my day, and always made me smile. I am blessed to have wonderful neighbors and saddened now that we are one less in our neighborhood.

With my deepest sympathy Debra to you and your family.

Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family during this time of such a tragic, devastating loss. Words cannot express the sympathy we are having for you and family, as you try to cope through the sorrow of a broken heart. Stu was your soulmate, and only your children can help remind you that a part of him is still among us. We pray for your strength to keep your faith, and pray for your family and children.
