November 18, 2008

To All of David’s family, friends, & colleagues:
Words cannot express how thankful Kaitlin and I are for all of your support, your many cards, thoughtful letters, kind e-mails, ‘just checking on you’ phone calls & caring prayers. It is truly wonderful & infinitely healing to hear the many stories of David’s antics, playfulness, and numerous acts of kindness that we were only able to experience briefly. It is clear, David not only impacted our life, but many, many lives for the better.

To David: My husband, my best friend, my lover, my soul-mate.
You are missed more than you can possibly understand. I am thankful everyday for the time we had together, albeit too short. You will forever live in my heart. When I think of you, I see your contagious smile; and I find myself smiling through my tears, despite my heartbreak.

There's No Such Thing as Far Away...Fly free and happy beyond birthdays and across forever, and we'll meet now and then when we wish, in the midst of the one celebration that never can end.
I Love You!

Mary Ellen

To the Albrecht Family,

I met David when we served together on the Grand Jury in Watkins. He and I struck up a conversation as we were seated together, and in 5 minutes time I felt like I knew him. What a wonderful young man, taken from you too soon. My heart and prayers go out to you all in this difficult time.

Bryonna & Hillary and Family,
I knew your dad when he and your mom first got together as I was friends with your Aunt Lisa. He was a wonderful person and I hope that you always remember that and cherish your thoughts of him. Remember the good times that you spent together and how much he loved each and everyone of you. Look to your family and friends during this time and gain strength from one another. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. As Robert Lewis Stevenson once said "Like birds singing in the rain, let grateful memories survive in times of sorrow"

Mary Ellen & Family:

David will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him and remembered by so many. I feel blessed to have known you both, if only for a short time. I will miss the "visits" on mondays if only to say hello. He was a man of character and a committed husband and father. I consider it an honor to know the both of you and to have performed your marriage ceremony. I never once saw him without that unforgettable smile and he always had good words to say about all.
Just remember he loved you and will always be at your side to guide you through your life in these trying and stressful times. To quote a portion of a special prayer to me, which I feel epitimizes Davids zest for life, prayer to St. Francis and what I feel David lived by "Where there is hatred let me sow love, where there is injury, pardon, where there is doubt, faith, where there is depair hope and where there is darkness, light and where there is sadness, joy...". David lived his life to the fullest and just remember he will forever be watching over you and guiding you through life until you meet again. Keeps these words close to you each and every day and you will always know that David is right there by your side.

David and I were more like brother and sister then cousins. We grew up together him being one month older to the day. We started school together and until I left for the Navy we did everything together. I wish with all my heart I could be with my family during this sad time. I sit here and weep for David and remember all our years of laughs together. He was a wonderful guy and was always making you laugh. I miss all my family at this time and I send my hugs with love to you all. Please know that I would be there if I could and share my words with all that here them on Wednesday. David will be missed so much but his memory will live on. Love from your favorite cousin Debbie, Ken, Marliana, Noelle and Tyler Warner Clare Michigan

For my family and friends,

I wish I could be there for all of you during this rough time, not a day has passed that you all haven't been in my thoughts and prayers.

Bry and Hill- I don't know where to begin... Your dad was amazing in every way. He was always the fun uncle to go visit and I'll never forget all of our fun times we had together, from sleep overs waking him up in the middle of the night, to pig roasts, and of course the potato gun... I wish I could be there for both of you to remember him. There's so much of your dad in both of you. He's forever in our hearts and in your smiles.

Mom (Tina Albrecht)- You were his only sis, I know how much he cherished you.. He'll always be watching out for you from a better place. I'm so proud of you, you've been so strong for all of us. Alex, Mack and I love you very much. Hang in there...

Uncle B, Uncle Allen, and Uncle Rikki- Theres nothing stronger than the bond of brothers. I always remember all of us going for a mountain bike ride in the woods. You three and Uncle David got a real laugh when I went down the hill screaming, no hands on the handle bars and crashed right into a tree! He loved to laugh so everytime you laugh laugh for him as well.

Gram and Gramp- You are both amazing parents and grandparents, keep your heads up and if theres anything you need you know i'm only a 30 minute drive away. I love you.

Dave was a guy who I knew to have a gruff exterior and a big smile. Sort of like your favorite dog barking at you as he wagged his tail. I worked with him in a business relationship and he was enjoyable to work with, and I always enjoyed seeing him. When there were difficulties we always parted on good terms and as friends. I apprecaited that. He was a reasonable guy. Sometimes when a person is initially gruff you expect them to be unreasonable, but with Dave I quickly came to know that if I played fair, we were friends, and all problems were solvable. My heart goes out to his friends and family, most of whom I do not know.

I am writing for my family and we would all agree that dave was an amazing person. Always so happy and willing to help anyone. He was a bestfriend to my dad (Larry) for the past 20 years. My mom (Annette) had known him for 20+ years. My sister (Jordan) has known him, her whole life (9 years). And i myself have known him my entire life (13 years) and i am going to miss him sooo much. Dave was like an uncle to me. And he will always be in our hearts

That's Dave, anything to make you smile and laugh.

To the whole Albrecht family, words will never be enough to say how we feel and the loss that Dave's passing will be to all who knew him and his whole family. Dave has part of our family for many years, there will be a void that can not be filled.

Brandon, We know how you enjoyed your brother and how much you will miss him, we are here for you any time.

Horst and Sue, No one can say we know how you feel we just know we hurt and feel an emptyness. We know your family will carry you through, just know we are here if there is anything you need.

Mary Ellen, We met for a short time but liked you right away and saw you made Dave happy. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family now and always.

Bryonna and Hillary, Always remember your Dad with a smile and know he loved both of you very much, he will always be with you.

Our dearest daughter-in-law Tina, we know your heart is broken and there are many questions that can never be answered, Dave loved his "Biff", every time he ever talked about her or to her he had a smile from ear to ear, he will always be in your heart. Remember just close your eyes and you can see his smile and the twikle in his eyes. We are here for you and anything you need.

All of the people who are part of Dave's family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Sue, Horst & family,

It's been a long time since I've seen you and have not been in touch for 20 to 30 years, but I remember being at your house on Black Oak road and playing with David & Ricky when we were just kids like it was yesterday.
I remember David shared my overactive sense of humor and we would sit and watch and/or listen to Bill Cosby for hours and repeating some of his funniest phrases until we laughed ourselves to sleep at night.
I remember our families getting together in the early fall to cut firewood for the winter where we kids were supposed to help by stacking wood and we would get yelled at numerous times because we were playing around and not working.
I remember David's fascination, even as as a young child, for electronics and building small projects in the basement to show his dad when he was finished. David was like "McGuyver" and probably could have built the Space Shuttle using nothing but vivid imagination, rubber bands, paper clips, super glue, a couple of transistors, and a gum wrapper. He was very proud of his dad Horst, and wanted to be just like him when he grew up.

My thoughts with all of you!!!
