Ruth Kouf Obituary
NEWFIELD - Ruth Bowers Kouf, 83, of 1915 Elmira Road, Newfield, NY, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at the Cayuga Medical Center. Ruth was born February 3, 1925, the daughter of the late Byron and Ardis Putman Bowers.
Ruth belonged to Golden Eagles, the World Wildlife Fund, and the D.A.V. She was also an avid bowler and Boston Red Sox fan. Ruth enjoyed her summers at her cottage on Cayuga Lake in King Ferry, NY where she enjoyed her flowers, feeding all the cats and ducks and watching the birds and sunsets from her screened in porch.
Survivors include her sons Earl (Diana) Buckingham of Freeville, NY, Marvin (Darlene) Buckingham of Newfield, NY, daughter, Sandra Lagasse of Newfield, NY; her sister, Mary Jane (Robert) Byers of Columbus, OH; also grandchildren, Sheila Buckingham Maleski of Ithaca, NY, Brenda (Greg) Mikula of Lansing, NY, Dale (Rhonda) Buckingham of Spencer, NY, Paula (Larry) Parker of Raleigh, NC, Jonathan Lagasse of Ithaca, NY and Jennifer Lagasse of Brooklyn, NY; seven great-grandchildren Stephanie and Jessica Maleski, Brandon and Danielle Mikula, and Allexa, Arianna and Dalton Buckingham; and her dear friends William and Pat Lower.
Funeral services will be held at Bangs Funeral Home, Sunday, November 2, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. William Lower officiating. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Newfield. Friends may call Saturday, November 1, 2008, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Bangs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA of Ithaca.

To Earl, Marv, and Sandy and their families,
I've known you all for many years and I will miss your Mom very much. She was like a second Mom to me after my own Mother died in an automobile accident in August of 1960. I met the family awhile after and I loved them dearly. I was always tickled to see your Mom and give her a kiss and we chatted a little. She always gave me a big warmth to my heart and a twinkle to my eye. We always laughed when we saw each other. I know you will always miss her, but remember all the great times. God Bless all of you and hang in there.

I was saddened to learn of Ruth's passing. She was a wonderful person and had a tremendous family, many of whom I know well and love dearly. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Those of us who were fortunate enough to have known Ruth are better off simply of because of that fact.
