We want to extend our heartfelt sympathy to all of you who were privileged to know and love Gladys. We are friends of her precious daughter, Nancy, and her husband, Sam, and have heard many special stories about Gladys. After reading the additional fun memories you all share, we only wish we, too, could have known her.
Blessings,

For some reason you were called to
take your life away
But the ones you left behind ask
"WHY?" every single day
Life, for all, sometimes is too
much to bear
So I ask myself "Did you know how much I
really cared?"
I need you now to help me finish
my journey through life
To help me stand tall again when
things are not going right
If you ever see me struggling and
facing harm
Just spread your wings &
take me under your arms
You are now one of my guardian angel
looking over me from above
So, if I ever need anything no matter
how big or small I will call upon you indeed
for your heart was never too small
I know deep in my heart
when it is my turn to walk
that set of golden stairs
that, Grandma,
you will be standing there.
*You will never be forgotten*

Living out of state I hadn't seen my Aunt Gladys in over fourty years, but I do remember her warm and loving ways. My mother, Blanche Jane O'Hara Plunkett, thought the world of Gladys.

Aunt Gladys would come to California in the winter with my grandmother. Gladys was always fun to sit with in the back seat of the station wagon while taking family trips to the beach or redwoods.
One year the two sisters made my brother's friends their favorite baked goods – pies and cookies of every type had been made. It was a sight to see 8 teen age boys hugging and thanking Gladys and Ruth for the sweet feast they had prepared.
In the winters the two sisters would create quilts in my parents living room to take back home. They would work for a few hours in the morning sitting and doing handwork and then they would exercise in the back yard. Gladys and Ruth would run laps from the tool shed to the cherry tree, after 4 or 5 laps they would come back into the house and work on the quilt for a couple more hours. They would do this routine a couple times a day, it was pretty funny coming home from school with a friend and seeing them running in the back yard to get the kinks out. When my son was born Aunt Gladys made him a wonderful sea life quilt - which he still uses 7 years later.
Gladys was always happy and cheerful - she will be in my thoughts forever.

My Aunt Gladys was a lady in the true sense of the word. I will never forget all the happy memories of times at her house as I was growing up.

My thoughts are with you at this time. I met Gladys through my friendship with Sandy and Mike. She was always kind to me and would always ask about our chickens. I have some very fond memories, one being her coming down to Mike and Sandy's when we baked Christmas cookies, she was the official taste tester.
