Olive Hurd Obituary

OLIVE L. BAKER HURD
LODI - Olive L. Baker Hurd, age 87, longtime of resident of Lodi Point, passed away on Monday (Sept. 24) at the Huntington Living Center in Waterloo.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday (Sept. 26) and from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday (Sept. 27) at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 Main St., Ovid.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday (Sept. 27) at the funeral home with Pastor Diane Walker and Fr. John Tokaz co-officiating. Interment will be held at the West Lodi Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Olive's name may be directed to the Lodi Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, PO Box 299, Lodi, NY 14860; or Lifetimecare Hospice of Seneca Co., 1120 S. Main St., Newark, NY 14513.
Olive was born on January 7, 1920 in Lodi, NY a son of the late James and Emma (Landon) Baker. She graduated from Lodi High School and worked at the Seneca Ordinance Depot during WWII as a munitions handler. Olive then worked at Willard Psychiatric Center in Food Service. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lodi Fire Dept., and the Lodi Presbyterian Church Ladies Assoc. Olive and her husband, Fran enjoyed many years of camping, she also enjoyed her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. Crafting and crocheting were favorite pastimes for Olive as well.
Olive is survived by her husband, Francis E. Hurd of Waterloo; a son, Charles L. (Linda) Hurd of Waterloo; a daughter, Connie (Paul) Polce of Trumansburg; grandchildren, Andrew (Kelly) Hurd of Auburn, NY, Matthew Hurd of Waterloo, Paula (Adam) Chard of Oneonta, NY, and Sally Polce of Trumansburg; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mercedes, Miranda and Mattia Hurd; and her special friend, Frances Matteson of Lawton, OK. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Dorothy Covert; and brothers, William, James and Edward Baker.
