Marguerite Moore Obituary

MARGUERITE ELIZABETH NORTHWAY MOORE
ITHACA - Marguerite Elizabeth Northway Moore, age 89, of Ithaca, died on Thursday, October 4th after a short illness, surrounded by her loving children and family.
She is survived by her 9 children: Bob (Donna), Jim (Glenda), Dave (Joan), John T. (and family), Connie Gordon (Jim), Paul (Ginny), Kathie Arroyo (Al), Mike (Laurie) and Ed III (Donna). She is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Edward James Moore Jr. and her only sister, Helen Sigler.
Marguerite was a lifelong resident of Ithaca, attending Immaculate Conception School and graduating from Ithaca High School in 1935. She was employed by G.L.F.(aka Agway), Cornell Cooperative Extension, and retired from Farm Credit as an administrative assistant in the 1970's. In her retirement, she continued with her hobbies of tennis, bowling and nationwide traveling.
As matriarch of the family and a proud mother, she was our role model of family respect and devotion. Her presence provided the glue that will now keep the family united. She was much loved and will be missed by her family.
Calling hours will be on Monday, October 8th, from 11:00 - 12:30 at Herson Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrated by Rev. Leo Reinhardt, at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Mom's life at the Royal Court Restaurant (529 S. Meadow St., Ithaca, NY) starting at 2:30 p.m.
A special thanks to Thanna Landon and Joan Keith for their attentive care of Mom in the recent months. We'd also like to acknowledge the staff at Cayuga Medical Center, especially those in ICU and 4th Floor South, as well as Hospicare for helping guide us through this transition of Mom's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 113 N. Geneva St. or to Hospicare, 172 East King Road, both in Ithaca, NY 14850.

I knew Mrs. Moore through her daughter, Kathy. She was a very lovely lady and always very pleasant to me. She was always very glad to tell me how her children and grandchildren were doing. I could tell she loved her family immensely.
Kathy, you are in my heart and in my prayers. God Bless.

As a Mom, I admired you, Grandma. How you raised 9 children and as adults they all still gathered around their Mom and Dad..with such Love and Respect for the two of you and each other. I can only imagine the lessons of Love and Respect that you taught them through all the years. You were lucky to have 9 children (gifts from God), but they were also lucky to have you as a Mom. I am greatful to have met you in my life time and will forever keep you in my heart, especially when I need a moment of inspiration as a MOM. I am sorry I can not attend on Monday, but Grandma you will be in my thoughts and prayers for many years to come.
Love, Dawn Moore

I fondly and lovingly remember your smile and joy, your accepting nature, and the times we shared together. I am torn that I cannot join the family in celebrating your life on Monday. But I will honor your life as Matthew and I celebrate in the birth of our child these next few weeks, the next addition to the Moore family. I miss you and love you. Kristen and Matthew
