Marian Sheldon Obituary
CORTLAND - Marian J. Sheldon, age 85, of 1284 NYS Rt. 221, Cortland, NY, died Thursday, November 1, 2007, at her residence. Mrs. Sheldon was born May 11, 1922, a daughter of the late Willis and Leah Lawton Johnson. Her husband, Leonard Sheldon, died October 21, 2000. Marian was a former member for Groton Baptist Church and had been a Sunday School Teacher and Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the Carrington-Fuller Auxiliary Unit #800, American Legion, the Groton Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crafts, baking and helping others.
Survivors include her children, William Sheldon, Frederick Sheldon, Willis (D.J.) Sheldon, Kathleen (Bruce) Whittaker and Brenda VanMarter; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, November 5, 2007, at the Perkins Funeral Home, with Rev. Harold Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday at the Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Memorials are graciously directed to the Groton Fire Dept. Ambulance, 108 East Cortland Street, Groton, NY 13073.
