Cindy Friedmann-Sharshon Obituary

CINDY LYNN FRIEDMANN-SHARSHON
STAMFORD - Cindy Lynn Friedmann-Sharshon, 49, of King Ferry, New York, passed away on November 7, 2007 at Cayuga Medical Center of complications from liver cancer.
She was born February 6, 1958 in Stamford, NY, the daughter of John H. (Jack) and Dorothy H. Friedmann of Stamford, NY.
A "Celebration of Cindy's Life" was held in the auditorium of Southern Cayuga Central School, Poplar Ridge, NY, at 12 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2007. She was an integral part of the school's family; as friend, teacher, colleague and loved one by staff and students. She was remembered through anecdotes, poems and show tunes in a heartfelt ceremony.
An employee of the district for 28 years, she was an energetic advisor for the National Honor Society, worked with students in the Drama Club, hosted exchange students.
She graduated from Stamford Central School in 1976 and participated in Elementary Chorus, Band, Soccer, was a member of the National Honor Society and spent two weeks in Italy during her sophomore year on "The School-to-School" Exchange Program. Her summers were spent life guarding and as director at the Stamford Village Pool.
Her educational interest was in the field of Communications, which she completed at her Alma Mater, Ithaca College in 1980. During her sophomore year at college, she spent a semester in London, England, in the School of Communications.
Cindy was "Community Minded", a true "People Person".
Surviving her are her husband of 25 years, Glenn; a daughter, Larissa; and son, Michael; her parents, Jack and Dorothy Friedmann of Stamford, NY; a sister, Catherine Lynn Friedmann, Utica, NY; father and brother-in-law, Walter and Lee Sharshon of Abington, PA; an aunt, Pauline Sharshon Tramutola of Clinton, NJ; and a myriad of cousins and friends from the East to West Coast to abroad.
A further "Celebration of Cindy's Life" will be held next spring in Stamford at the First Presbyterian Church, Main Street.
As a love of and for animals, Cindy's request was in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA of Tompkins County, 1640 Hanshaw Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
Locally, memorial donations may be made to the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, Delhi, NY 13753; the Hospice and Palliative Care, 116 Main St., Delhi, NY 13753; the First Presbyterian Church, 96 Church St., Stamford, NY 12167.
