Francis Czerwinski Obituary
CORTLAND - Dr. Francis Richard Czerwinski, 67, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, November 25, 2007.
Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY, on August 6, 1940, son of the late John and Sarah Czerwinski. He earned a Bachelor's degree from City University of New York (Brooklyn College) and both Masters and Doctorate degrees from Cornell University. He had been a beloved professor and ardent scholar in the History Department of SUNY Cortland for the past 39 years.
He is survived by his wife, Julia of 11 years; and three stepchildren Amanda, John and Stephen Koltz of Cortland, NY; by his sister, Roberta Hossbacher of Parsippany, NJ; and by his children, Joseph Czerwinski of Monroe, NY, and Roberta Czerwinski Steele of Glenville, NY; as well as daughter-in-law, Lorraine; and four grandchildren, Jason and Ethan Czerwinski and Kyle and Megan Steele.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 7, at 2 p.m. in the Old Main Mezzanine at SUNY Cortland. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Cortland College Foundation at SUNY Cortland.

i am sorry to hear about dr. czerwinski's death. he was one of my favorite professors at cortland. i took every one of his classes that fit into my major. i loved his style of teaching and hope that i can be even half the teacher he was. i called him the "rip van winkle" at cortland, because of his countenance and his demeanor. he brought a great deal to my life and he will be greatly missed.
