David Joseph DeMark, 61, of Forest City, passed away suddenly at work on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Augustus "Gus" and Margaret "Marge" Shivitz DeMark, he was a graduate of Forest City Regional High School and Johnson College, where he received an associate's in electronics. He was employed as a 29-year veteran as a continuous improvement technician at PEXCO/Alleima. Passionate about his work would be an understatement. He never backed down from a challenge and enthusiastically became the expert on many diverse pieces of equipment and processes. Dave's smiling face, optimistic attitude and wealth of knowledge will be greatly missed by all those he knew and worked with. Growing up, he was known as "Gus" and shared his Dad's love for billiards, participating in four different leagues, including the Endless Mountain and Delaware Valley leagues. He was so very proud to serve as his Dad's teammate. He was talented in mechanics and participated in demolition derbies with his brother. His favorite hobby was quadding with best friends. Dave was sure to be present for all of his children's events growing up. He coached his son, Ben's, baseball teams, for over 10 years including Little League and junior high. What is remembered most is that he never failed to brighten up a room and make others laugh and smile.
Surviving are his wife, the former Laurie Sukenik; a son, Ben DeMark, at home; a daughter, Emma DeMark, St. Kitts/West Indies; a brother, Jack DeMark and wife, Lisa, Vandling; a sister, Marie Rutsky, Forest City; and several nieces and nephews.
As per his request, private funeral services will be held. Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City.
