Jack Swedelson, of Greentown, Pa., died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospice after a brief illness.
Jack was born on July 2, 1931, in Beresford, South Dakota, and prior to his retirement owned a textile business for almost 50 years in the Garment Industry in New York City.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Marlene Swedelson; and devoted sister-in-law, Tina Penzel. In addition, Jack was the loving uncle to a huge circle of nieces, nephews and extended family. Jack was a proud Veteran, having served four years in the United States Air Force on active duty during the Korean Conflict, and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. He remained a committed, active Life member of the Jewish War Veterans, and was also a Past Chancellor, Past Deputy Grand Chancellor and Life Member of Knickerbocker Lodge Knights of Pythias of New York City.
A Celebration of Life/Memorial Service and Military Honors will be held at the Sanctuary of Abraham And Sarah, located within Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, New Jersey, on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. Should friends desire, contributions in Jack's memory should be made to the Lehigh Valley Hospice Pocono, 502 VNA Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
