Henry O'Briant Obituary

Henry E. O'Briant Jr., 75, died suddenly Saturday, July 12, 2008, at the Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of Josephine (Dinoto) O'Briant. He had been a resident of Westerly for the last 34 years.
Born in Roxboro, N.C., he was the son of the late Henry E. O'Briant Sr. and Thelma (Bumpass) O'Briant.
Mr. O'Briant was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after serving for 22 years. While in the Coast Guard he served on several weather cutters and shore stations. After retiring from the Coast Guard, he was employed at General Dynamics as a technical aide and retired from there after 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and raking for quahogs.
Besides his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his son, Henry E. O'Briant III and daughter-in-law, Pamela (LeRoy) O'Briant of Moncks Corner, S.C., and his second son, Michael T. O'Briant of Westerly; his sister, Mary Katherine Davis and her husband, Edwin H. Davis of Roxboro, N.C.; his brother, Thomas M. O'Briant and his wife, Nancy O'Briant of Priest River, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Margaret Maurer, Faye White and Carolyn O'Briant.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., historic downtown Mystic today from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with burial following at the R.I. Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the RI Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Ave., Providence, RI 02907.
