Gerard Blaney Obituary

Gerard M. Blaney Sr., 76, of Charlestown died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at his home surrounded by his beloved wife Peggy of 55 years and his six children.
Born in New York City, he was the seventh of nine children of the late Edward and Jean (Docherty) Blaney.
Mr. Blaney was self-employed for nearly 28 years (G.M. Blaney Associates, LLC). He was the former Director of Marketing at Dzus Fastener Company and Simmons Fastener Company.
He was an active participant and volunteer throughout his life in sports as a player and coach, in church, and in local hospitals.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Michael, Edward, Keith and Gerard Blaney, Susan Briggs and Margaret Fletcher; brothers, Edward, Joseph, Paul and Lawrence Blaney; and his 15 grandchildren, Jennifer, Kelly, Kathleen, Jeffrey, Ryan, Brianna, Laura, Keegan, Colin, Shaylyn, Christopher, Cassandra, Shaun, Deryn, and Katie.
Visitation will be held tpday, 4 to 8 p.m. at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in The Church of St. Clare, 4 St. Clare Way, Westerly.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home & Hospice Care, 143 Main St., Wakefield, RI 02879.
