Andrew Sacco Obituary

Andrew M. Sacco, 77, of Hobart Street, Westerly, passed away on August 15, 2008 at The Westerly Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Alice I. (Spino) Sacco of Westerly. He will be sadly missed by his loving daughter, Joyce Grasso and her husband Michael of Westerly, his loving son, Michael Sacco and his wife Rita of Westerly, he will also be missed by his three loving grandchildren, Thomas Grasso and his wife Michelle, Christopher Grasso and his fiance' Sarah Young and his granddaughter Kristen Mason. He also leaves his three sisters, Catherine S. Algiere – wife of William of Bradford, Norma P. Ramsey of Bradford and Dolores E. Teague – wife of Pete of Bradford and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sacco was born in Stafford Springs, CT on July 4, 1931, the son of the late Andrew and Mary Rose (Montalto) Sacco. He served his country in Germany for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. For many years, Andrew worked as a postal worker for the Westerly Post Office, retiring in 1992. He also worked for the Westerly Fire/Police and was a member of the Amancio-Falcone-Gaccione Westerly Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post # 8955 as well as a communicant at St. Pius X Church of Westerly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home, 64 Friendship St., Westerly.
