Luigi Parise

Luigi Parise, of Glasgo Road, Pawcatuck, passed away at home on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at the age of 79. He was the beloved husband of Filomena (Gencarelli) Parise for 51 years.
Born in Acri, Province of Cosenza, Italy on July 19, 1929, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Antonietta (Nigro) Parise. Mr. Parise came to the U.S. from Italy in 1960 and settled in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. where he was employed as a mechanic at Central Motors in White Plains, N.Y.
In 1977, he arrived in Pawcatuck and was then employed at E.B. General Dynamics in Groton and then later at R.I. Harvesting in Ashaway. Following his retirement, Luigi was happy to help anyone who requested his assistance in any way.
Mr. Parise was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Pawcatuck. His greatest passion in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he leaves one son, Salvatore Parise of Boston, Mass.; a daughter, Antoinette Pancaro and her husband Rodolfo of Pawcatuck; and his brother Joseph Parise and sister Marietta Nigro – both of Acri, Italy. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Rudy and Christopher Pancaro – both of Pawcatuck; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly, on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Michael Church, Liberty Street, Pawcatuck, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery.
