Joanne,
May you know with certainty that the sure and loving hand of God is protecting your heart now and always. Dale was a wonderful friend to know and no doubt a great husband. We are so sorry for your loss. Our love for you and Dale doesn't end with his departure. We will keep you both in our prayers. His pain is wiped away, but he and you are forever in our hearts.

Dear Joanne,

Cecil and I were saddened to hear the news, first of Dale's diagnosed illness, and soon after, his death. You are in our thoughts and our prayers to be provided the strength and courage to carry on. Though, we've known Dale for over 30 years in our professional lives, we were fortunate to meet you after we all retired into a second phase of our lives and became "cronies" socially. Dale left us all a legacy in his wonderful stories in "Hole in the Sky". We will cherish the memories forever.

My sincere thoughts are with Dale's family at the time of their loss.
Although Dale and I never "eye-balled", we met through e-mail relating to "The Souvenir" he contributed to the memory of Corporal Marlin D Metzger, a casualty on Flag Day, June 14, 1943, of a US B-17C warplane crash at Bakers Creek, near Mackay, Queensland, Australia.
"The Souvenir", a framed tribute, hangs in the foyer of the Sir Albert Abbott Administration Building - Mackay's "city hall".
Many American and Australian friends will be represented at Dale's memorial service by our friends Bob and Sarah Cutler.

I got to know Dale when he accompanied a good friend to our support group. He always had wise and helpful comments to help our members. His illness was a shock to us all and he will be missed.

Dear Joanne and family, I am so sorry that Dale has left us. When I saw you at ATC, Joanne, it was my first awarenss of Dale's disease. I apologize if I was flippant or seemed unconcerned. I had no idea of the severity of his disease. Then I read his farewell in the WRITE WORD. I will always remember Dale as a gentleman with a wry wit and a great devotion to you and to his writing and to his SSA family. Please accept my condolences. Rita Robinson Brown
