Ruby Davis

TUSCALOOSA Ruby Davis, age 80, of Tuscaloosa, died April 6, 2008, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Donald Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Onie Dockins; sisters, Vernice Crawford and Ala Mae Stevenson; and brothers, Clifton Dockins and W. L. "Pete" Dockins.

Survivors include her husband, Sidney Davis, Jr. of Tuscaloosa; her daughters, Sandra Watkins (Gary) of Tuscaloosa and Lynn Godwin (Tommy) of Tuscaloosa; her son, Glenn Davis (Debra) of Tuscaloosa; her sisters, Shirley Cummingham (J. W.) of Northport and Rhudene Everett of Melbourne, Ark.; her brother, Bill Dockins (Lena) of Oxford, Ark.; and her grandchildren, Eric Sprayberry, Chad Sprayberry, Chris Sprayberry (Caroline), Amy Woods (Jeff), Kimberly Godwin, and Jessica Godwin.

Her smile and laughter and touch would light up a room. Her family was her life and joy. Her grandchildren visits brightened her days, as did her great grandchildren. She brightened everyone's days and will continue through our "precious memories."

Pallbearers will be Randy Dockins, Ricky Dockins, Tony Crawford, Ken Davis, Jeff Woods, Christopher Colson, Danny Wallace, and Phil Broyles.

Honorary pallbearers are special sister-in-law Ann Dockins, Sandra Pierce, Carl and Mary Frances Davis, Ed and Evelyn Davis, Cheryl Wallace, Charles and Cornelia Davis, Clarence and Doris Davis, Howard and Edna Davis, Joe and Ruby Ball, James and Doris Stewart, Lenford and Oleta Godwin, Dr. Elwin Crawford, Dr. John Waites, Dr. Steve Lovelady, staff of Morning Pointe Assisted Living, friends of Forest Lake Baptist Church, and Hospice of West Alabama.
