CW0-4 Donald K. Martin, age 79, passed away January 20th, 2016 at Night N Gail assisted living home, where he was lovingly cared for over the past two years. Although he will be missed by many, his family will miss him the most.

He is survived by his two children, Karl and Monica, her husband Greg Holt and their children Kristen and Tyler. Also surviving are his dearly loved sister Sandra Matthews, her children, Dr. Preston Matthews and Lisa Britson and their families; as well as several beloved cousins Mike, Barbara, Marci, Valli, Eric and their families.

Don was born and raised in Albuquerque and graduated from Alb. High in 1953 and UNM a few years later. After graduation, DK went to work for the NM Dept. of Game & Fish and it was while working for the dept. in the Cuba area in the late 50's/early 60's that Don met his wife of 17 years, Hettie Huey. He worked for the Game and Fish in Carlsbad, Roswell & Santa Fe where he finished his 30 years with the department in 1988. Throughout this time, Don served our country bravely in the US Marine Corp Reserve for 30 years. (Ooh rah 4th Recon Battalion) before retiring from the USMC, "Gunny" . Sgt Martin volunteered to serve in Desert Storm even though he was 54 years old when deployed. Along with being very patriotic, he loved history and was an avid reader, teaching himself how to repair almost anything. Above all, Don was a very generous and patient man. He treated everyone with respect, no matter their race or position in society and was a great example to his kids of what a loving father should be.

There will be a celebration of his life on Monday, Jan. 25th at 12:30pm at the X Factor Church, 3023 Montclaire Dr. NE , Alb.
