Fred Benavidez Obituary
Fred, age 83, beloved father, grandfather, great-grand
father, brother and uncle went into the loving arms of the Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2016. Fred was a resident of Long Beach, California for most of his life but was brought back home to New Mexico where he will be put to rest.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane; son, Michael Benavidez; parents, Juan and Leonor Benavidez; step-mother, Chonita Benavidez; and grandson William Fehr. Fred is survived by his children, Janet Fehr and husband Bill, Lawrence Benavidez, Georgene Silva and Adrian Ferguson; grandchildren, Jessica and Jennifer Fehr, Valerie, Rudy, Ashley Silva, Lawrence Jr. and Michael Benavidez, Michael Edwards and many great-grandchildren; brothers, Johnny Benavidez and wife, Cathy, Pete Benavidez, Leo Benavidez and wife, Louise. Martin Benavidez and wife, Dorothy, Phillip Benavidez and wife, Isabell; sister, Teresa Gutierrez and husband, Alex; many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great nephews; step children, Diane Madrid and Raymond, Robert Madrid, Walter Alvarez and wife, Jessica, Sammy Leyva and Rebecca, Amelia Alvaraz and many step grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 18, 2016, 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Garcia Mortuary ~ Chapel of Angels, on the corner of 8th and Iron with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, 9:30 am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church , 309 Stover Ave SW. Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pete Benavidez Jr., Leo Benavidez Jr., Phillip Benavidez Jr., Patrick Benavidez, Michael Benavidez and Gabriel Benavidez. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Benavidez, Sammy Leyva, Walter Alvarez, Raymond Torres, Rudy Silva, Lawrence Benavidez Jr., Michael Lawrence Benavidez and Michael Edwards.
