Funeral services will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 at a 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton for Ethel Logan, age 99, the former Ethel Henry, who passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at River Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette with family at her side. Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Mausoleum in Cankton. Mrs. Logan was a native and resident of Cankton, having lived there most of her life and Lafayette since 1998. She worked as a nurse's aide for Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital until her retirement in 1982.  Mrs. Logan was a parishioner of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, having been a former Vice President. She was a C.C.D teacher and a Eucharistic Minister for over twenty-five years. Mrs. Logan attended the Cursillo in Prairie Rhonde in 1985 and was a member of the Parish Council of St. John Berchmans. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of Carencro and St. Vincent de Paul Association.  For many years, Mrs. Logan delivered food for the needy and shut-ins during Thanksgiving and was a member of the sales team to sell cemetery plots at St. John Berchmans. She received the Bishop Service Award for St. John Berchmans and was honored at Bishop Maurice Schexnayder's 50th Anniversary. In 1996 and 1999, Mrs. Logan received the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for her outstanding service to the church and community. She was also a member of the North College Heights Pokeno Club. Survivors include one daughter, Betty L. Auzenne and her husband, Raymond, of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Tamara A. Nathan and her husband, Keith, of Dallas, TX, Sherrise Logan of Church Point, Leo Floyd Logan, Jr. of Houston, TX, Raquel Saulsberry and her husband, Brian, of Memphis, TN, Tangela A. Chance and her husband, Tommy, of Dallas TX, and Symond Mouton of Lafayette; eight great grandchildren, Maya Thomas, Keiana Nathan, Kendall Logan, Christian Logan, Isaiah Logan, Taylor Ford, Elijah Ford and Logan Ford; one step grandson, Myron Grady and his wife, Libby, of Kansas City, MO; two great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Logan; her parents, Arista Henry and the former, Cecilia Jean, both natives of Cankton; one son, Leo Floyd Logan, Sr.; one grandson, Joseph Auzenne; and one brother, Morris Henry.
