Dana Williams Obituary

Anchorage resident, Dana Leon Williams, 64 died December 15, 2011 in Anchorage

A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. January 21, 2012 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 8100 Arctic Blvd, Anchorage.

Dana was born December 17, 1946 in Weed, California to Leo and Evelyn (Williams) Kerkes. Dana grew up and attended school in West Seattle, Washington. She graduated from Chief Sealth High School in 1965. She married Chuck Sundeleaf in 1967 and had two children, Kathy and Geary.

In the late 1970's, Dana moved with her family to Bellingham, Washington where she lived until her divorce in the late 1990's when she moved to Marysville. She later moved to Granite Falls, Washington where she bought a home. Dana was a member of the United Methodist Church where she became a Lay Pastor, visiting and giving communion to shut-ins. Dana was very active in her church.

In 2006, Dana moved with her daughter, Kathy and her family to Alaska where she lived in Wasilla for a couple years then she moved to Anchorage. In 2008, she met Bill Lowther and they began to make a life together.

Dana is survived by her daughter, Kathy and her husband, Wade Gibson; her granddaughters, Jessica and Crystal Gibson, all of Anchorage; her son and daughter-in-law, Geary and Yana Sundeleaf, Tacoma, Washington; her sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Glenn Polenske, Kent, Washington; her nieces, Allison and her husband, Aaron Martin; and Lauren and Seth Bently, all of Kent, Washington.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Evelyn Kerkes.

Dana was a wonderful grandmother. She loved her grandkids so much. I enjoyed visiting with her and was sad to see her leave Granite Falls, WA to move to Alaska. What an adventure she had though! She was a terrific lady and will be greatly missed.

So sorry to hear the sad news about your Mom, Dana. My heart goes out to you for your loss. Whenever you lose someone you love it is one of the most devastating exoerience's a person can face. Suddenly, everything has changed! But, may all the wonderful times you shared with her always comfort you. And at times such as this, rely on the God of Love to sustain you with His promise of HOPE!
