Evan Richard Nerland

1990 - 2018

Evan Richard Nerland died unexpectedly in Surprise, Ariz., on June 8, 2018, after battling with mental health. Evan was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on July 31, 1990, at Providence Hospital to Richard and Leslie Nerland. He lived most of his life in Alaska, graduating from Service High School in 2008 before attending the University of Oregon and University of Alaska Anchorage. Upon his return to Alaska he met the love of his life, Denise Addene Nerland (Bostedt) in 2011. He married Denise on a beach in Maui on Oct. 19, 2015, in the loving company of family including his stepdaughter, Talore Bostedt. Evan and Denise grew their family in May 2016 with the birth of their son, Cooper Nerland and again in February 2018 with the birth of their daughter, Sloane Nerland.
Growing up, Evan was an accomplished baseball player, playing Abbott-O-Rabbit Little League and varsity baseball for Service High School. He was a talented skateboarder, snowboarder and loved outdoor activities. He was an avid duck hunter, an activity he loved sharing with his dad, Rick; brother, Drew; cousins, Justin and Taylor; family and friends; as well as his golden retriever, Decoy.
Evan loved motivating people and helping others reach their personal goals, which was reflected in his career ambitions as a personal trainer and real estate agent in Anchorage, Soldotna and Kenai, Alaska. He was a loyal and beloved husband, father, son, brother and dear friend. He wanted to make the world a better place to live in; that was his commitment which he lived out creating a loving family life for his wife and three children. He also made sure his home was one that welcomed friends as family. He is survived by his wife, Denise; his children, Talore, Cooper and Sloane; his parents, Richard and Leslie; his brother and sister-in-law, Drew and Elizabeth; and his four nephews and two nieces. He is also survived by his grandfather, Stuart G. "Jerry"� Nerland; uncles, Steve Nerland (Debbie), Roger Nerland, Brian Nerland (Julie) and Clark Timmerman (Heather); aunts, Tracy Jones (Jerome) and Valerie Elliott; and many cousins.
There will be a memorial service on July 27, 2018, at 4 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church in Anchorage followed immediately by a Celebration of Life on the Park Strip on 10th and F Street.
