Nathan Metcalf Obituary

Eagle River resident Nathan Wade Metcalf, 19, died July 13, 2007, at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Eagle River Road.
Nathan was born Nov. 4, 1987, in Everett, Wash., to Rodney and Terry Metcalf. He was the youngest of seven children. He attended Chugiak High School and Provo Canyon School in Utah.
Nathan lived in Lynnwood, Wash., until 1995, when he moved to Eagle River with his family.
His family wrote: "A hard worker, Nate built homes in Wasilla with his brothers and dad. He loved working and was always willing to do anything. He enjoyed playing games, especially Mario Party with his brothers. He liked watching movies with his friends, camping, going on vacations (cruises), and playing with his nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was involved in Boy Scouts and wrestling.
"Nathan was such a joy to have in our lives. He was kind and selfless. Nate's caring ability and unconditional love will be missed. We know we will see him again!"
He is survived by his parents, Rodney and Terry Metcalf; siblings and spouses, Angie and Corey Jones, Jason and Janet Metcalf, Ryan and Tiffany Metcalf, Shane and Shantel Metcalf, Justin and Jamie Metcalf, and Amy and Brad Rogers; nieces and nephews, Trey, Kylie, Kassidy, Trevor, Jared, Jamie, Jax, Jaci, Alyssa, Carson, Gavin, Peyton, Calab, Braxton and Natalie; grandparents, Dale and Melva Metcalf and Weldon and Lanora Potter; and great-grandma, Relva Potter.
Nathan will be laid to rest at Valley Memorial Park in Palmer.
Arrangements are being made by Evergreen Funeral Home in Eagle River.

To our wonderful friends, It seems that there just aren't words to express feelings at a time like this. Without the Gospel it would be almost impossible to get through the pain of separation from loved ones. I wish we would have known Nathan better but we have always been impressed with the thoughtfullness and kindness of your family. We remember well the time when your family moved into our ward and we have loved you all ever since. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers!!! We love you!!

Metcalf family,
I saw Nathan last while he was visiting Utah earlier this year. He, as always, was kind and took time out of his way to visit me and spend time updating me on his life and the family. He spoke about working with the family and how much he enjoyed that. He was one of those students that I will always remember and care for greatly. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. I am so glad that you have the gospel to help you through this time of loss.

To Nathan's family,
I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to you. I knew Nathan while he was in Provo. I was honored to be his art teacher. He was always a favorite of mine to have in class. He was creative, hardworking, and always really fun to have around. He is the type of person I always felt lucky to know. Words lack the ability to express accurately my feelings here, but he will be greatly missed.

Bishop, Terri and Metcalf family, Ron and I are so very sorry to hear of Nathan's passing. He was such a wonderful young man and he will be missed so much by all. I remember slipping and sliding on the ice one day in the church parking lot and a very gallant young Nathan offering his arm to me so I could get to my car. He was (is!) a gentleman and he has an awesome family. We hope you will be comforted as your many friends and family pray on your behalf. We love you. We care. Thanks for your friendship and for the fine family you've raised. Love, Ron and Donna Perkins
