Bruce Kinnecome Obituary

Bruce Kinnecome, 74, died on April 19, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Uxbridge Massachusetts, he was the son of Walter and Anne Kinnecome. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and older brother Robert Kinnecome. He was greeted in heaven by Freddy the cat and dogs: Misty, Rocky, Asto and Lucky.

Bruce graduated from Uxbridge High School in June 1957. He enlisted in the United States Air Force that year, and served our country for 22 years and retired as a master sergeant. He worked at White Sands Missile Range for a couple years in accounting and finance. In 1981, he was hired on at the United States Postal Service. He retired from the USPS after 20 years. He amazed us with his ability to remember people by their address.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosemarie Kinnecome; his three daughters and their spouses: Michele Ford (Michael), Mona George (Jeffrey), and Melinda Smelser (Dan); his six grandchildren: Mike, Stefan, Chelsea, Daniel, Bailey and Brett; and his four great grandchildren: Jalen, Donovan, Dakarai, and Taylor. He is also survived by his two brothers Barry Kinnecome and sister-in-law Diane; Frances Kinnecome; his sister, Joy Newel; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews in the U.S. and Europe.

Bruce married Rosemarie K. Hess on August 22, 1963, in Wassenberg, Germany. They met in June of 1962 at a festival while Bruce was stationed at Wildenrath, Germany, a British Air Force Base. The early years were spent moving around while Bruce served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Bruce served in Vietnam while Rosi and the girls resided in Loring AFB, Maine. They settled down at Holloman Air Force Base in October 1972. Bruce fell in love with Alamogordo and made this their home when he retired from the Air Force.
They loved to bowl and were on various leagues for many years. Bruce and Rosi enjoyed cheering on the girls while they played basketball and softball. Home and family meant everything to Bruce. More importantly, Bruce Kinnecome meant everything to his family.

Bruce was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 7686, the Elks Lodge, and also, a member of the Moose Lodge. He spent his weekends in the winter months watching the New England Patriots. Other pasttimes included working in his vegetable garden, solitaire and visiting his buddies at the Elks Lodge as a part of the Lunch Bunch.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the Boys & Girls Club of Otero County. Contact Denise Syling at 575-437-3788 or mail to PO Box 1731 Alamogordo, NM 88311.

A Memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25th at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel on First Street, with Pastor Bill Heithold officiating. A gathering will occur at The Elks Lodge following the Memorial.

The Kinnecome family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
Cremation will take place at PCS.
